Gothic Glam

Gothic Glam An accent wall in this "gothic glam" guest bedroom has been covered in wallpaper from Iris Maschek. A ruby-hued bed adds a pop of color but retains with the area's moody vibe. Lamps from Voila Gallery connect the distance to industrial elements found elsewhere in the home. LIghting is dim, setting the tone for a show-stopping room with a modern gothic mood.

Contrasting colours High contrast produces a stunning visual effect without sacrificing harmony. Blue and orange hues, opposites on the colour wheel, are replicated in the wool bedding and rug.

Soothing Yet Bold A restful color scheme does not need to be a snooze. Focusing on two main colours -- white and gray -- in various hues makes this contemporary bedroom inviting and comfortable. Sprinkling a variety of textures throughout keeps it interesting, although the new flowers add softness and life. Design by Claire Paquin

Red Can Be Restful Do not be afraid of bold colors -- at the right combinations, they make for elegant, soothing spaces. "It's easy and inexpensive," Erinn claims of this swag. "You can purchase pre-made curtains, hang them on a brief rod and tuck them behind the headboard." The hot zebra-print seat on the proper introduces a little whimsy.

Mix for a Match Using a rich deep blue wall shade and lots of dark furniture in the bedroom creates a soothing escape that emanates instead of cools. Accenting the walls, brown ceiling-height curtains and onyx-stained floors with pops of white and beige linens and area rugs throughout offers the perfect mix of masculine and feminine so often difficult to achieve in a master bedroom. Purple Reigns The colour of royalty flies from the face of this all-too-typical white-wall strategy at a bedroom. Rather than patterned curtains and beige carpets or an area rug, turn to the walls and bed to highlight your love of color. Combining dark and light purples keeps this space refreshing and enjoyable. Light Airy The bedroom's color palette is inspired from the gorgeous Ikat area rug which causes the area. Soft greens and blues are used on the walls, bedding and drapes, while a pop of orange finds its house in flowers on the nightstand. A contemporary chandelier provides a hint of romance.

Mixing Flair and Function The metallic-finish nightstand and luxurious tapestry headboard throw away a glamorous sparkle inside this bedroom designed by Tina Mellino, but they belie a family-friendly functionality. "Everything in this room is durable," Tina says, "because I made it as a adult guest suite where the customer's toddlers may also come to play video games. The duvet cover, for example, is a gentle machine-washable linen." The wall behind the bed features a custom-mixed coppery paint remedy from Variance that is applied with a trowel and lightly buffed. "It creates a superb soft feel that reflects light differently at various times of day," Tina says.

Serenity In the Sea The proprietor of this bedroom suite wanted a quiet, elegant appearance and already had a selection of carpets and art to build around, therefore designer Annette Phillips picked a complementary focal shade: a delicate sea-glass green. One Tone — Not 1 Note Sticking with a single color ought to sense lush, not stingy. Designer Sarah Barnard dressed this room entirely in green to echo the lush plantings just beyond the French doors. Still, the result is subtle due to layered finishes. "Some of the great areas to build up visual texture from the bedroom is to the bed itself," Sarah says. "There are certainly different schools of thought as to how many pillows is too many, but a mattress is an indulgent room anyway. With too much pillows makes it feasible to present a good deal of textures"

Earthly Sophistication Designer Dana Wolter used a cream and earth-tone color palette and soft textures, such as the headboard and complete curtains, to make a richly restful space in this bedroom.

Blue White This bedroom is a perfect example of how keeping mixed designs within precisely the exact same colour palette--here, navy blue and white--may result in a fun, vibrant appearance.

Neutrally Relaxing This gorgeous, contemporary master bedroom is a great place to relax after a very long day. Three windows across the space let in plenty of natural light, but they are outfitted with room darkening shades to block out any excess lighting at night. At one corner of the room, designers included that a sitting area-perfect for taking in a morning cup of coffee or snugging up with a good book on a chilly day. On the opposite side of this space, a table rests between two big windows, maintaining the desk well lit and providing beautiful views that produce the place of the piece a great space for writing.

A Modern Masterpiece inside this bedroom, white walls and gray-carpeted floors offer you a subdued backdrop, so what better setting for a "wow" bedspread and artwork?
